A man who contaminated sweets with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two children aged between nine and ten.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and one adult experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on recently.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was kept in jail before a further hearing on late November.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, handling the case, outlined the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She said his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer camp which he operated.
Ruben played a "sweet game" with the children, the prosecutor said, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to consume candy "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the man had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in July 2025.
The legal representative added: "Recently" his stepson had worries about the situation, justifiably.
"They decided to examine in the individual's items."
The legal counsel stated materials including infant oil, ointment and syringes were found, and his family member notified the law enforcement about his worries.
She explained Ruben proceeded to conduct the "sweet game" with six children that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that time," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
The prosecutor stated the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson contacted the authorities again.
She said the man then played the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
